Cave, Eifert on watch lists

Notre Dame center and former Penn High School standout Braxston Cave on Tuesday was named to the Rimington Trophy fall watch list and teammate Tyler Eifert was listed on the Mackey Award Preseason watch list.

The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the nation’s most outstanding center and the Mackey Award is given to the nation’s most outstanding tight end.

Also named to the Mackey list are two former Irish tight ends — Joseph Fauria, now at UCLA, and Mike Ragone, who plays at Kansas.
